At FURA, our vision is to forge a lasting legacy where every gemstone reflects our commitment to the planet and its people—today and for future generations. We pursue this through a sustainability approach rooted in environmental stewardship, social equity, and economic resilience.
Empowering local communities is a central part of FURA’s sustainability approach. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for the people in our mining areas by promoting human rights, gender equality, and access to education and healthcare. FURA’s commitment to social equity is reflected in our wide range of community-driven initiatives, including vocational training programs, and direct support to vulnerable families. By fostering safe working conditions and upholding strict labor standards, including preventing child labor and ensuring fair wages, FURA actively promotes social equity. In Mozambique, we constructed a primary school in the Montepuez District in 2021 to ensure access to quality education for the children of local communities.
FURA recognizes the responsibility of minimizing the environmental impact of our mining operations. We implement sustainable mining techniques that prioritize land rehabilitation, water management, and energy efficiency. Our reforestation programs in Mozambique are part of our broader commitment to biodiversity conservation. By restoring degraded land, we not only protect local ecosystems but also contribute to global efforts to combat climate change. Additionally, in Mozambique, we are developing tree nurseries that aim to restore native biodiversity during rehabilitation efforts.
Our sustainability efforts also extend to building economically resilient communities. We understand that sustainable development depends on creating opportunities for long-term economic growth, and we are committed to helping local enterprises thrive. FURA has implemented various income generating programs, including food security initiatives through livestock and poultry farming and local employment generation through skills' development.
By providing training at FURA Academies and supporting artisanal and smallscale miners, we help equip local populations with the skills necessary for sustainable livelihoods. In 2024, we delivered four tons of 90-day hybrid seeds and provided agricultural training to 80 families in Mozambique, helping boost local food security.
